As soon as people start chatting about physical modelling, things get complex pretty quickly, especially if you’re talking about modelling wind instruments – just don’t go there. But, thankfully, when it comes to mimicking the sound of a plucked string, there is a much simpler way. Using Karplus-String synthesis, the Dreadbox designed Antidote is able to take a short snippet of noise, put it through a buffer that’s constantly filtered then release the sound of plucked string. The faster the filter, the faster the dampening of the string. Of course, you can pull the filter all the way back and end up with a thick mass of colourful noise.
