Allmänt
Melodic percussive instruments come in all shapes and sizes and some look so similar, they often get mistakenly grouped under the same name. So, is this a xylophone, glockenspiel, marimba, or vibraphone? It’s actually none of the above since this is a metallophone. Just like the xylophone, marimba, or vibraphone, this instrument is part of the idiophone family of tuned percussion. The sound of any idophone instrument is produced by its own vibrations, without the need for a resonance box or other amplification. Other great examples of idiophone instruments include a tuning fork, handpan, or steel drum.
