Simon Phillips is not exactly known for being modest when it comes to his drum configurations. As such, he’s often seen sitting behind not one, not two, but three snares. While ’The Pageant’ is billed as Phillips’ signature 12 by 5-inch side snare, it shapes a surprisingly present, and articulate sound.
The Tama SP125H Simon Phillips Snare: The Pageant
The shell of the SP125H is made from maple finished in a subtle grey and mounted with brushed nickel-plated hardware. A set of Tama Die-Cast tensions hoops have also been fitted to withstand the higher tuning needed to set this model up as the side snare it was born to be but can, of course, be tuned down a little so it can be used as a more-than-present main-snare.
