For decades, Vox has been sitting at the top of the list thanks to both its characteristically clean and self-willed, powerful overdriven sound. Here, those sounds comes in the form of the AC Custom Series AC30C2 VB combo in Vintage Black. The finish is a subtle nod to the type of speaker cloth that was used in the ’60s and looks especially luxurious and naturally, the 30 in AC30 refers to the amp’s power output in Watts. For the tubes, Vox have gone with a set of EL84s from JJ Electronics. These are not only greatly dependable but offer brilliant and warm tone that’s reproduced by a pair of 12-inch Celestion G12M-65 Creambacks for the ultimate sonic combination. The result is a rich, sugar-coated sound with an impressive mid-range and shimmering highs. Contagiously inspiring, the AC30 will have you play until your fingers start to bleed. Apart from the speaker and grille, the specifications of this model are the same as those of the standard brown AC Custom Series amps.
