Allmänt
The Rumblekat Bass is Epiphone’s way of honouring late bass player, Allen Woody (Allman Brothers Band, Gov’t Mule). This special chambered electric bass is based on the various custom and vintage models that Woody used to play, including two custom double-neck basses built by Gibson. A short-scale model, the Rumblekat has a 30″ scale length and can even be comfortably played by bassists who don’t have particularly large hands. Also, while body doesn’t have any sound holes, the chambered design still gets you that characteristically airy bass sound without any of that unwanted feedback.
The Allen Woody Rumblekat Bass: Rising Low
To make sure the warm foundation sound shaped largely by the mahogany build gets amplified with ample punch, Epiphone for opted for an NYT mini-humbucker in the neck and mid positions. Each pickup comes with its own volume control for more subtle tweaks, while the master volume pot can be used to dial in the right volume for the mix. Next to the shorter scale length, the mahogany neck has been finished with a trusty SlimTaper C profile and 20 medium frets, and Epiphone have installed an especially stable 3-point adjustable bridge to keep the tone and tuning beautifully consistent.
