Striking contrast with the warm sound of the guiro, the metal guira has a much harder, sharper percussive sound. Here, Fazley set you up with the tonal range of five different sized guiras and include a brush. The smallest is 20.7cm long and has a 7.4cm diameter, the largest is 31.5cm long and has a 15.2cm diameter, and the other three filling in the successive dimensions. Originating in the Dominican Republic, the guira is an essential element of merengue, bachata, and to a lesser extent, other genres such as cumbia.
