Hot and fresh from the Gibson Modern Collection, the left-handed Gibson SG Tribute comes primed for brutal performance. This American double-cut classic bears the iconic, brutal horns and, since SG stands for ’solid guitar’, the body has been hewn from a solid slab of mahogany before being mounted with a 490T and 490R open-coil humbucker fit to amplify the rich voice of the potent yet warm acoustic foundation. To finish the classic styling, the whole has been coated in the buttery feel of a satin nitrocellulose lacquer. Softshell case included.
The Modern Collection SG Tribute: Comfortable Playability
In terms of playability, the SG Tribute follows the standard, time-tested Gibson recipe of a 24.75″ scale length, that hits that golden sweet-spot between sound and string tension, and a 12″ radius rosewood fretboard loaded with 22 medium frets. Whether grabbing chords or ripping leads, the feel is satisfyingly snug. The stable base, superb vibrational transfer and renowned sustain is provided by a lightweight aluminium Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stop Bar, while the Vintage Deluxe machine heads firm up the tuning.
