While many music software developers remain fully focused on emulations of synthesizers of old, you don’t find many that lean in the direction of audio separation. Which is not that surprising since this is a pretty tight corner of the music production world. Based in England, Hit ’n’ Mix put some sweet and sneaky audio analysis and manipulation tools at your fingertips. Infinity is both Windows and Mac compatible and once installed, it give you the power to clean out any bum notes and tweak minute details, which also makes it the ideal tool for remixers that don’t have access to the original stems, or for retrieving the stems from old work, the original source material of which has been lost to the sands of time.
What Does Hit ’n’ Mix Infinity Give You?
Essentially, you load in a bit of audio, and after Infinity has completed its analysis, you’ll be able to ’access’ the track as if you’re looking at MIDI data. This means you can also perform some great MIDI operations on the track, including lengthening audio, making it louder, quieter, removing parts, transposing other parts, put parts in different places, add a harmonizer to chords, and more. Any programmers will enjoy sinking their teeth into Python to write their own custom RipScripts, and a few RipScripts have already been included, such as a noise remover and chord generator. And it’s exactly this level of scripting power that earns this software the title ’Infinity’, since the tinkering potential is literally limitless.
