We’ve already been enjoying Megadeth’s definitive album, ’Rust in Peace’ for more than 30 years, and the Jackson-made David Ellefson Quicksilver Concert Bass that made it all possible is just as giant a legend. To celebrate the 30 years since the epic album was first pressed, we’re treated to a 30th Anniversary CBX IV edition. This X-Series model has been made available at a much more considerate price, but still comes fully loaded with all the mouth-watering features of Ellefson’s original USA-made bass. So, you’re getting the pearloid inlay-work of the iconic shark fin position markers and a black Radiation logo discreetly placed on the back of the headstock.
The CBX IV David Ellefson 30th Anniversary: Tight, Solid, and Insanely Fast
To provide the butter-smooth yet solid foundation needed to accommodate ultra-fast licks, the fretboard has been given a compound radius while the tuning stability is ensured by a more-than-capable HiMass bridge. The mounted active EMG J and P pickups, meanwhile, shape impeccable balance fit for the heavy lifting needed to play classics like ’Tornado of Souls’. The pickups can be combined or separated at will and the bass and treble can be tweaked using the accurate, no-nonsense two-band equaliser. This is every bit the faithful and genuine signature bass and comes primed for timeless metal.
