With the Byzance Foundry Reserve series, Meinl demonstrates a strong piece of craftsmanship. These cymbals are made in Turkey from a B20 bronze alloy and extensively hammered by hand. Thus, on this 20 crash cymbal, in addition to a usual pattern of grooves and hammer patterns, you will see extra deep hammering. This gives the cymbal a dark, complex sound with many undertones that Meinl also refers to as the ’Roar’. In addition, you have a bright, dry stick definition. You can of course use the cymbal for any style of music, but it certainly comes into its own in jazz, fusion, funk, rnb and studio.
