Based on the ARP 2500, the Behringer 2500 1036 is a more-than interesting Eurorack module that wields the power to generate a random voltage and includes sample and hold functions. This module monitors the incoming signal for a specific time interval and captures and holds the signal value of that interval until the next time interval comes along. This little unit essentially glitches an audio signal – squaring the wave and forcing a lo-fi feel. Apply it to controller voltages and generate squared steps for a more blocky, rhythmic effect that’s reminiscent of a New York style sonic city landscape, and if you happen to have an LFO module that exclusively outputs sinewaves or sawtooths, the 1036 module can be routed to feed it a square wave. In other words: endless potential.
