Yamaha continues to develop innovative instruments as this Venova YVS-100 clearly shows. It’s a wind instrument made of ABS resin which makes it lightweight, robust and comfortable. Even though the fingering is similar to a recorder, it sounds more like a saxophone thanks to its mouthpiece, which houses a single synthetic reed and also enables you to play with more expression. Considering it’s smaller than a soprano saxophone, its sound is pleasantly surprising and with a range of two octaves, there are plenty of possibilities.
Venova YVS-100: extras
The mouthpiece is probably the most familiar looking part of the Venova YVS-100. That’s because it’s essentially the same as a mouthpiece found on a soprano saxophone. The mouthpiece and a synthetic reed are both included, as well as a hard case so that you can easily take this instrument with you wherever you go. If you’re looking for an unusual instrument that’s easy to play and has a great sound, then the Venova YVS-100 certainly ticks all the right boxes.
