While a decade might seem like a long time, that’s exactly how long it took Pearl to develop and refine the Decade Maple Series. The result is a range of kits and shell-sets bearing the professional-grade sound and clear, fast response of 5.4mm-thick, 6-ply maple. The Pearl DMP926S/C213 Decade Maple kit is an all-in-one, affordable six-piece designed to provide any serious intermediate drummer with the upgrade of a complete two-up-two-down configuration. So, you’re getting a 22 inch by 18 inch kick, a 10 inch by 7 inch and 12 inch by 8 inch tom, a 14 inch by 14 inch and 16 inch by 16 inch floor tom, and a 14 inch by 5.5 inch snare, all finished in Deep Forest Burst and fitted with chrome-plated hardware for a tight look. This full kit comes including a HWP-830 hardware pack.
Optimised Resonance
To pull the best possible sound out of the maple shells, Pearl have applied a number of smart details to ensure optimal resonance. The most obvious is the three point OptiLoc tom-mount system that suspends the toms via two tension rods and one of two vents so that minimum contact is made with the shell, and that boasts a stepless adjustment system for free and smooth positioning. The lugs have also been kept as small and lightweight as possible to reduce the load on the shell walls, giving the maple the room it needs to fully resonate, while the tension claws of the kick have been finished with specialised rubber, and the R40 floor tom legs with resonance-retaining air chambers, preventing vibrational loss.
The HWP-830 Hardware Pack
The included HWP-830 hardware pack sets the kit up with a solid and durable snare stand, hi-hat stand, two cymbal stands, and a P-930 Demonator kick pedal. These 830-Series stands are chrome-plated, finished with ergonomic adjustment nuts, and stabilised by double-braced legs to provide the full support of a reliable, un-shifting foundation.
