Okay, so you’re looking for a hard-wearing, 1,200-watt bass amp head that doesn’t weigh much and packs sublime sound? We’ve done the search filtering for you: the American-made Bergantino Forté HP ticks all the right boxes. Just like all Bergantino amps and cabs, this bass head has been built using nothing but the highest-grade parts. With 1,200 Watts of peak power at 2 or 4 Ohms, there aren’t many amps that can keep up with this sleek-looking unit. At 8 Ohms, it thrusts out a maximum of 600 Watts, but make sure to use the Mute switch when you toggle the impedance settings. That’s great and all, but this HP model actually offers more than just masses of volume.
The Forté HP: First-Rate Bass Tone
Using this transistor bass top, you can go in any sonic direction you’d like, whether you’re into overdrive-backed rock, crystal-clear pop or something funky. The control section of the Forté HP is equally versatile. After you’ve set the gain and volume, you can adjust the variable high-pass filter between 1 and 10 kHz for more definition, and use the variable low-pass filter to tweak the 30-120 Hz range. Need more bass? Simply activate the Punch control. More trebles? Switch on Bright mode. Then, any final tweaking can be done using the potent, 4-band EQ.
From Modern Slap to Forceful Overdrive
Of course, there’s more. In fact, the three switches on the right side can also serve a secondary function, meaning you could assign the Punch switch to the direct XLR output with ground lift if you’d like. The Bright switch flicked to orange gets you a modern bass sound that’s cut out for intense slapping sessions, while set to green, you’re steered towards harder rock sounds. Meanwhile, the Drive pot can be used to add a touch, or a serious dose of overdrive – Finally, since this future-proof bass head features Bluetooth, you can plug in the dongle to use the included wireless footswitch to operate the drive, bite, punch and mute controls, so your hands can stay focussed on laying down Bergantino-grade bass tone.
