For the Custom Collection Element 4, Michael Kelly took their inspiration from a classic J-style model and added a fistful of upgrades to offer you an affordable boutique bass. While any true J-style enthusiast has probably already acknowledged the visually pleasing top and matching black hardware by now, it’s not just its appearance that sets the Element 4 apart from other, more traditional bass guitars. Specially-shaped contours on the back provide both comfort and playing ease on the higher frets and it’s the red cedar body that gives this Micheal Kelly an imposingly powerful yet sweet, warm foundation sound.
The Custom Collection Element 4: MK Stealth Attack Bridge System & Rockfield 4SW Single-Coils
To give the bass sufficient brightness and sustain without adding too much weight, Michael Kelly designed the MK Stealth Attack Bridge System including an aluminium tone block that does most of the heavy lifting. When you plug the Element 4 into your bass amplifier, you’ll find it offers a large number of passive, as well as various remarkably useful active sounds. Using the 2-band EQ, you can then steer the two hot and energetic Rockfield 4SW single-coils in any direction.
