Following on from the immense popularity of the YYZ SansAmp bass stompbox and the solid GED-2112 19″ rack unit, comes Tech 21 and Rush bassist, Geddy Lee with a dream of a preamp in a studio desktop format. Based on the signature models that came before it, this compact effect can find a neat little spot next to your interface, where it will offer nothing but clean sound with more than enough bottom-end and sharp-edged crunch. This is shaped by two analogue circuits built around the widely applauded SansAmp tech that brought us such classics as the standard DI-2112 and the RPM.
The Geddy Lee SansAmp DI-2112: Find Your Sound with Ease, then Send Two Independent Tones
Wielding these two parallel preamps, you can carve out the classic bass sounds of Geddy Lee circa 1996 with effortless ease, as well as the sounds that preceded them. A dedicated ’Deep’ section provides a clean foundation of thick, literally deep bass that can be given delicious presence using the Drive preamp, before blending the result with the sound of your bass. Both sounds can be sent via XLR or standard jack cables to two channels of your audio interface so that they can be recorded separately. Firm yet smooth feeling rotary pots and tactile buttons populate the face of this desktop unit, making digging out and sculpting your sound that much more pleasurable.
