The limited edition Vintera Series Fender 70s Telecaster Deluxe is a deliciously brutal blend of vintage playing feel and thankfully modern reliability. The alder body of this nonchalant classic has, of course, been mounted with a pair of Fender’s own Wide Range Humbuckers – specially voiced for that pure and authentic sound of the seventies – while a volume and tone pot has been provided per pickup, putting a rich and warmly familiar world of Tele-Deluxe tone at your fingertips. Another more-than-welcome bonus is the aged treatment of the Road Worn nitrocellulose lacquer finish, giving this guitar all the look and feel of an instrument that’s been mercilessly played and well-loved for a good 50 years. The included deluxe gig bag is pretty nice as well.
The Vintera 70s Telecaster Deluxe: Compulsive Playability
Since its debut back in the ’50s, the Telecaster in general has undergone some evolutionary shifts to enhance playing comfort. In the ’70s models, and more specifically, the Tele Deluxe, this is seen in the more modern neck profile and 9.5″ fretboard radius. For solid stability, a fixed bridge has been fitted and finished with six stainless-steel saddles that can be individually adjusted for perfect intonation, and the 3-ply pickguard might as well seal the deal on a vintage Tele built for the modern guitarist.
