In the sumptuous form and finish of the A-150 Savoy Special, Guild offer a fully playable antique. This full-sized jazz-box of an archtop offers a foundation sound filled with the enveloping warmth provided by the pre-installed set of flatwound strings. Plug the Savoy Special in and activate the DeArmond 1100 Rhythm Chief floating pickup at the neck. This single pickup shapes the full tone that was first defined back in the ’50s and ’60s, and is ultimately made for amplifying the intricate Jazz standard licks of that time. The tone can be changed up by adjusting the pole-heights of the pickup, and tucked just under the raised scratchplate, thumb-wheel-style tone and volume potentiometers are provided for more subtle tweaking.
