The 18-inch Sabian XSR Monarch Crash actually sounds a touch less dark than it looks. Surprisingly balanced, yet verging on extreme, this crash has a super-fast attack and a just as fast decay, so it’s able to unleash incredibly powerful, punching accents. Made from B20 bronze, the XSR Monarch also doubles as a ride with subtle stick-definition, a prominent wash, and a bright and clearly detailed bell response. Couple that with the super-short decay, you can crash it, then immediately carry the ride rhythm – all with one cymbal.
